This material is a picture book about the process of a baby bird’s birth. The whole story can be divided into three parts: small in the egg- grew and grew- got out of the egg. The birth process is a bittersweet and challenging one, during which the baby bird felt amazed, curious, afraid and helpless. Students will find the story attractive and meaningful to read and can truly relate to it, because it actually reflects their growth to some extent. Students at their age are going through growing pains, and they are going to constantly experience new several stages of that later. Only after overcoming the obstacles and embracing and adapting to the inevitable changes can they break free and truly grow up. The story should be made full use of to facilitate students’ understanding and internalization. | |||||

Learners are from Grade 5. They have learnt English for more than two years, so they have some basic English knowledge. This story is close to their life and students can easily relate to it and express their feelings and creative opinions. Their reading skills need to be high lightened. The more attention will be paid on their thinking abilities. | |||||
