  This material is an interesting story with   profound meaning. Jack is a poor boy. He has a magic adventure on the top of   beanstalk and finally become rich and happy through his efforts and courage.   Students will find the story fun to read. They will think twice about the   inner reasons of Jack’s luck. The story should be made full use of to   facilitate students’ understanding and internalization.

Learner analysis

  Learners are from Grade 5. They have learnt   English for more than two years, so they have some basic English knowledge.   This story is fun to read and have deep meanings. Students will think twice   about jack’s luck and express their opinions critically. Their reading skills   need to be high lightened. The more attention will be paid on their thinking   abilities.

Teaching objectives

  At the end of this lesson, students should   be able to:

1.Understand the story as a whole with the help of   mind map and blackboard design.

2.Learn to read cooperatively and individually and   guess the meaning of words in the context.
